one time i saw a girls bra strap. that was it. i was gone. i just couldnt focus anymore throughout the whole day because i saw it. all i could think about was bra strap. i went to a restauraunt and they asked what i wanted and the only words that came out of my were were “bra strap”. what could that girl be hiding under it? what is beneath that bra strap? is it connected to something else? like a bra or something? and what is the bra hiding? ugh im so distracted by it im sure it’s all ill think about for the rest of my life.
Redditors Get A Lesson In Tolerance of the Day: Redditor european_douchebag recently posted this pic of a Sikh woman with the caption: “i’m not sure what to conclude from this.”
Redditors promptly piled on to criticize her facial hair, which she is bound by her religion not to cut or alter in any way.
Then the woman caught wind of the post and responded:
Hey, guys. This is Balpreet Kaur, the girl from the picture. … I’m not embarrased or even humiliated by the attention [negative and positve] that this picture is getting because, it’s who I am.
Yes, I’m a baptized Sikh woman with facial hair. Yes, I realize that my gender is often confused and I look different than most women.
However, baptized Sikhs believe in the sacredness of this body - it is a gift that has been given to us by the Divine Being [which is genderless, actually] and, must keep it intact as a submission to the divine will. Just as a child doesn’t reject the gift of his/her parents, Sikhs do not reject the body that has been given to us. …
My attitude and thoughts and actions have more value in them than my body because I recognize that this body is just going to become ash in the end, so why fuss about it?
When I die, no one is going to remember what I looked like, heck, my kids will forget my voice, and slowly, all physical memory will fade away. However, my impact and legacy will remain: and, by not focusing on the physical beauty, I have time to cultivate those inner virtues and hopefully, focus my life on creating change and progress for this world in any way I can. …
I appreciate all of the comments here, both positive and less positive because I’ve gotten a better understanding of myself and others from this.”Then, miracle of miracles, european_douchebag apologized:
I know that this post ISN’T a funny post but I felt the need to apologize to the Sikhs, Balpreet, and anyone else I offended when I posted that picture. Put simply it was stupid. Making fun of people is funny to some but incredibly degrading to the people you’re making fun of. It was an incredibly rude, judgmental, and ignorant thing to post. …
I’ve read more about the Sikh faith and it was actually really interesting. It makes a whole lot of sense to work on having a legacy and not worrying about what you look like. I made that post for stupid internet points and I was ignorant.
So reddit I’m sorry for being an a**hole and for giving you negative publicity. Balpreet, I’m sorry for being a closed minded individual. You are a much better person than I am Sikhs, I’m sorry for insulting your culture and way of life. Balpreet’s faith in what she believes is astounding.Just… wow.
For more on DFAB’s with facial hair, see this wonderful documentary Juggling Gender, which points to what Balpreet is implicitly calling to: gender goes far beyond our minimal, binary biological deterministic perspectives of what “one should look like”. Enjoy!
The thing about micro aggressions is that eventually you have enough of it
And you end up blowing up
And people look at you funny like ” why are you so angry its just spilled milk”
Ok but you always spilling milk on me tho

you ever thought that maybe the reason girls say they’re fine when they’re not, or they’re not mad when they are, is because the second they show any semblance of emotion they’re written off as hysterical bitches that are probably on their period?

A kid was walking around school wearing this today and didn’t receive a single comment from administration.
Meanwhile, I was pulled over twice by them to mention how “incredibly short” my bottoms were.
Last time I checked, my shorts don’t reference blowjobs.
Quit sexualizing things that aren’t meant to be suggestive.
if u think my constant vocal feminism is annoying imagine how annoying the patriarchy is to me
Ariel can’t handle your slutshaming right now Eric!
Inspired by these I felt like making my own :)
So today Angelina Jolie had double mastectomy, which is the removal of one’s breasts, to prevent Breast cancer. So instead of praising Angelina on her bravery, men on Twitter decided to ridicule her, even calling her stupid for removing her breasts. For those of you on Tumblr that are attacking Feminists about being delusional about sexism against women and misogyny here’s your fucking proof that sexism and misogyny exists.
Even fucking sadder is that they didn’t even fucking listen to the statements she released- she said publicly that she was undergoing reconstructive surgery at the same time as her mastectomy, and was happy that the results would pretty much look “natural.” She did what was best for her body, her health, and probably her family, too, but all that anyone heard was that she was “cutting off her tits.”
It’s shit like this that makes me wish testicular cancer was more prevalent. And deadly. Maybe then these fuckers would understand the risks a bit more.
Fuck everyone who gives this woman shit for doing such a brave thing.
Disgusted with everything today.
“boys will be bo-“
*flies in*
*punches you in the face*
bOYS WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE
Why do white boys/men always feel like they need to interject their opinions where it’s not needed or wanted?
Because they’ve been conditioned to believe their opinion is the only important opinion and that nothing is credible until they say it is.
Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy, in case you hadn’t heard. How dare she remove those ticking time bombs from her chest, amiright? Like, hasn’t she learned by now that her body is public domain and we all get to vote on what she does with it? Sheesh, how selfish can ya get.
at monash university in melbourne the women’s department had a bake sale and cupcakes were one dollar for men and eighty cents for women and seventy cents for trans* people to represent the wage gap and heaps of guys kicked off about it being sexist and that’s how i finally understood how hypocritical and ignorant men’s rights activism is
to be fair that is pretty darn sexist… why cant stuff just be EQUAL for everyone?
