… except, like, it’s not??? feminism is a combination of theories and ideologies and it has a history of racism, transphobia, oppression etc. and it has been hugely problematic so like why not let people make up their own *informed* decisions if they want to identify themselves as feminist or not??? you may say to them “if you believe women are people then feminism is worth checking out” but don’t tell them “oh you believe in equality, you’re a feminist but you don’t know it!!!” because it a) it is somebody’s choice to identify with a certain ideology b) it leads to shitty people identifying with feminism when they, in fact, know nothing about it (see: femen). so yeah

Idk why they are talking about transmen but I guess perhaps they are a transwoman discussing their experiences with transmen? Who knows
Feminists won’t be happy until anyone who disagrees with them can be arrested within law.
Brohaim McPony hunched over his television and drew the microphone on his gaming headset so close to his lips he could taste Cheetos crumbs from the night before. His golden moment had presented itself, the pinnacle of his comedic career: a female entered his Call of Duty lobby.
A moment like this didn’t come often. Brohaim felt himself swelling up, struggling to find the right words. His throat tightened. If he didn’t speak soon, another player would notice the feminine avatar first. If that happened, his rape jokes and vulgarities would only be part of a larger storm. Brohaim would be forgotten.
Sandwich jokes were timeless, of course, but he had used that crutch the last seven times a female had the audacity to invade his sphere of entertainment. No. Brohaim only had one option.
He spoke bravely: “Hey, ‘Blackopslover’, you know what else you’d love? My dick. You should get over here and try it out.”
"Hey," a girl’s voice spoke back. "You should go fuck yourself."
Success! Brohaim could feel himself glowing. He laughed into his microphone. “What? Are you some kind of fuckin’ feminist or something? This is a man’s game.”
Silence in the lobby. Why wasn’t anyone laughing?
"Uh," a deep voice emerges. "You probably shouldn’t have said that, dudebro."
Brohaim gritted his teeth. If he was a cartoon, smoke would be coming through his ears. “Why not, huh? You some kind of mangina or something?”
Before he could get a response, the power in Brohaim’s room snapped off. His television and all of his lights suffered a swift execution. What was happening?
A pounding started as Brohaim’s door. It sounded like someone was slamming a hammer against the wooden frame of his room. It opened without resistance.
Three police officers entered the room. Brohaim noted that they were all females.
"What the hell are you doing?" he asked.
"Mr. Pony," said one of the officers. "You’re under arrest for your criticism of feminism."
"You can’t do that! What about my freedom of speech?"
The officers all laughed heartily. The leader wiped a tear from her eye. “You didn’t know? When feminists took over congress, we eliminated the constitution for not being feminist enough. You’re going to jail. You’ll have your neck-beard shaved off and be brainwashed to our point of view. Womyn, take him away.”
The officers cuffed Brohaim and led him downstairs. His father was there.
"Brohaim, son." his father teared up and approached his son. "Don’t let them make you forget who you are."
"But how can I stop them?"
"You can, damn it. I know you can!" Brohaim’s father raised his hands and placed a fedora on his head. "You’ll get through this quickly, son. I’ll pray to Carl Sagan for you."
Thus, Brohaim was taken away and brainwashed. The struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Sister.
THIS EXACTLY THIS.
I want to hand this out like a fucking flier
So, yeah. I know you’re tired of hearing about rape culture. But I’m tired of my friends getting raped.
I know you’re tired of hearing about abortion. I am too. So stop trying to tell me what to do with my uterus, and I promise you won’t hear another word from me about it.
I know men and women are different from each other. I’m just tired of that fact being used to excuse the inexcusable.
I know you’re tired of hearing about income inequality. But fuck you, pay us.
This is how it works. We get mad, we fight, we get tired, we get mad, we start again. Rinse, repeat. Feminism isn’t without its flaws, and it doesn’t seem able to speak with one voice or crystallize answers on the darker, stickier aspects of human nature and sexuality. But if I may get Rumsfeldian for a minute, this is the army we have. The fight comes to us whether we seek it or not, whether we want it or not, and whether we are ready or not."
This was a really excellent piece- I highly recommend giving it a quick read-through.
"I don’t believe in gravity, it’s my opinion ok. I know some people study science and stuff (which is totally a biased pro-gravity subject) but I have a right to have an opinion about gravity. My ignorance is just as valid as your knowledge."
This is exactly how ignorant people sound when they talk about feminism and deny the fact that misogyny still exists.

of a whole new generation of women who are
careful to preface every gender-related claim
that just might come across as unconventional
with “I am not a feminist, but… ."
Jane Espenson (from interview with Advocate.com)\
I dunno how many which ways this needs to be said
People who think that the misogyny in GoT makes it more “realistic”.
But all I hear is “Oh yeah, I’m totally for equality and all that. I’m not a sexist or a racist or a homophobe! I just don’t want to have to acknowledge the institutionalized power structures that benefit some demographics, as well as the thousands of years of violence, oppression, and discrimination targeted at others. Because that would require work, and might make me uncomfortable.”
you can criticize an aspect of something (a show, a character, a book, a website) and still enjoy that thing
“there’s nothing wrong with the video game community”
these are the types of guys I not so secretly hope they get thrown under a bus.
Oh I’m sorry I totally thought this controller was a remote to the dish washer! Oops!
And I forgot that NO ONE plays Resident Evil.
Lewis’ Law at work, everyone.
Tumbling over the past year and a half has made me see the problems of gender roles that exist in media, but sometimes it gets to the point where I over analyze every single piece of television or film that I come across. (However this in no way means that I think feminist media criticism is wrong, or should be avoided!) Mostly I just over think everything.
This is awesome!
if u think my constant vocal feminism is annoying imagine how annoying the patriarchy is to me
what it basically boils down to is this:
maaaybe i’m a feminist killjoy and freedom-of-speech oppressor who “can’t take a joke”
or maybe, just maybe
you’re a racist misogynist with a shitty sense of humor who “can’t take criticism”.
